Historical influences and changing systems in Hungarian agriculture
AbstractThe paper outlines the historical antecedents and the economic and social consequences of the destruction of the small-scale farming system, which has become predominant owing to the land reform of 1945, and of the establishment of the co-operative or state farm system. Relying upon the latest research results, this paper points out inherent contradictions of the large-scale farming system, and within it of the process of ending this system, as well as domestic and international correlations of temporary economic achievement (in reality, of wasteful growth). Finally, an outline is given of the impact of inorganic development on the process of the present change of system.
