A rotating biological extended contactor
AbstractBecause of the simplicity in construction, operation and maintenance and the relatively low energy requirement as compared to other systems, the rotating-disc wastewater treatment is very popular. In order to eliminate the negative effects of variations in sewage quantity on the effectiveness of treatment, a rotating biological extended contactor (RBEC) was constructed. The study showed that it was possible to attain high reduction in pollutants in a one-step RBEC.
