Surf zone wave parameters from experimental data
AbstractDimensionless radiation stress P, energy flux B, and energy dissipation D for surf zone waves are determined by analyzing published laboratory data for wave height and setup on plane beaches. The results show a significant variation across the surf zone and absolute values quite different from classical sine wave results. Sensitivity analysis of the predictions of wave height and setup indicate that particularly the setup which is closely related to the forcing of wave generated currents depends critically on the correct prediction of the dimensionless parameters P, B and D.
