Fibre-optic photocells for daylighting model studies
AbstractModel studies are an important predictor of daylighting performance. Under real skies they require near instantaneous measurement of illuminance at several locations. This is currently achieved with multiple photoelectric cells and can be expensive due to the large number of cells involved and the requirement for good quality, croos calibrated detectors with suitable cosine and V(λ) correction. This paper discusses the development of an experimental optical photocell which takes advantage of the properties and low cost of fibre-optics. The substitution of a photoelectric cell array by a group of fibre-optic cells will potentially reduce costs and improve the reliability of measurements.
