Estimating intra-urban freight generation and attraction
Abstract This paper discusses a method of estimating the volume of intra-urban freight generation and attraction. In terms of freight generation, the stepwise regression technique used, extracted four independent variables which explain 99.74% of the total variation in the volume of freight generated. In terms of freight attraction, three explanatory variables were selected and these account for only 79.46% of the total variation in the volume of freight attracted. The explanatory ability of the models was positively confirmed using Theil's inequality coefficient.
