Urban space evolution in the desert—the case of Beer-Sheva
AbstractUniversal theories and fashions affect planning and design in a distinct and definitive way. This trend becomes of an ever-growing magnitude and may prove quite costly and problematic, especially when it is applied in extreme environments such as the desert. To illustrate this claim, the paper presents the case of Beer-Sheva, the capital of the Negev Desert, Israel, by examining the evolution of the urban fabric and space throughout the last century.
