The research of GMA-g-LDPE modified Qinhuangdao bitumen
AbstractThe paper studies the Qinhuangdao bitumen modified by LDPE and GMA-g-LDPE, respectively. When the polymer content is altered the performances of polymer modified bitumen such as softening point, ductility at low temperature, penetration index and storage stability at high temperature are changed, respectively. The dynamic shear rheometer (DSR) and bending beam rheometer (BBR) tests report that the GMA-g-LDPE modified bitumen have the better properties of rutting resistance at high temperature and fatigue and crack resistance at low temperature than that of LDPE modified bitumen. The differences of FTIR of two kinds of modified bitumen identify peak absorbance of epoxy group which is 907.69cm−1. is disappear in the GMA-g-LDPE modified bitumen which shows the epoxy group in the side chain of GMA-g-LDPE has reacted with the functional group in the bitumen and no reactions have happened between LDPE and bitumen in the system of LDPE modified bitumen. The paper deduces that the network between the bitumen and GMA-g-LDPE results in the characters of bitumen modified by GMA-g-LDPE are better than that of bitumen modified by LDPE.
