Site placement uncertainty in location analysis
AbstractLocation planning models for siting public and private facilities have traditionally been used to suggest where services should be placed. It is often impossible to strictly implement results due to land suitability, access, costs, etc. Given this, it is conceivable that each facility could actually be located some distance from the originally recommended location. In this paper we are interested in assessing the efficiency of a siting configuration under conditions of uncertainty. Inexact siting prescriptions are explored for the planar multi-facility location problem. Three planning problem applications are utilized in this analysis of sensitivity and inaccuracy in location modeling.
