Recycling post-consumer polymers into construction materials
AbstractThe construction industry is one of the major consumers of polymers and a significant potential customer for recycled plastics products. The growing problems with municipal solid waste (MSW) disposal space, the proliferation of polymer products, and public awareness of environmental issues makes it necessary for the construction industry to become actively involved in post-consumer polymer recycling efforts. Technical problems with utilisation of post-consumer polymers, potential recycled plastics products, and other related issues are covered to provide an understanding of the current status of plastics recycling technology as it relates to construction materials.
