The chemical composition of lime plasters
AbstractIn a thorough investigation of the chemical composition of twentyone Renaissance lime plasters, it was found that these fall into two categories. One group contains quartz and calcium carbonate only, while the other group also contains magnesium carbonate and magnesium hydroxide. None of the samples was found to contain more than small amounts of calcium hydroxide, either crystalline or amorphous.
