AbstractThis paper describes briefly the aims and structure of Eurocode 8, as well as the general procedure for the application of the code for the design of steel structures in seismic regions. In particular, rules for ensuring the dissipative behaviour and sufficient regularity of structures are described. The basic design criteria and detailed rules for steel structures are also mentioned.
