Mean bed friction of combined wave/current flow
Abstract Bijker's model for evaluating the wave-period-mean bed friction of combined wave/current flow has been modified to account for the current velocity reduction as well as the wave boundary layer near the sea bed. A method of estimating the bed frictional dissipation rate of the combined flow is also presented. The results obtained by the present approach are compared with several sets of experimental data, and confirm its accuracy and usefulness.
