Relations between ground motions and earthquake magnitude, focal distance and epicentral intensity
Abstract The peak values of particle ground motions in the near-field together with the earthquake magnitude, epicentral intensity and distance from the source are analyzed. Two procedures — (a) generalization of the previously determined relations between these quantities, and (b) determination of the relations from the directly measured values of peak particle motions — are applied. The dependences among the above mentioned parameters are discussed.
