Electrical resistivity measurements of Portland cement based materials
AbstractThe electrical resistivities of four different cements have been found to exhibit very different age dependencies. These differences cannot be readily explained in terms of their compositions and water/cement ratios. Therefore, in order to gain some understanding of the charge carrying process in cement and, thereby, explain the differences in cement type, a new experimental method of measuring electrical resistance has been developed. This technique provides information on the polarization of the cement resulting from the applied electrical field as well as giving both a.c. and d.c. electrical resistivities.
