Abstract This short commentary on the Special Issue ‘Agricultural Regimes and Migrant Labour’ emphasises the colonial roots of employment conditions and labour relations in the contemporary capitalist food supply chain; the continued reliance of agriculture on racialisation and unfree labour; and some of the individual and collective ways in which these have been resisted.
