The function of the manganese catalyst in oxidation of n-tetracosane by atmospheric oxygen
Abstract 1. During liquid phase oxidation of n-tetracosane with atmospheric oxygen in the presence of manganese stearate and a mixture of manganese stearates and potash the oxidation of ketones to acids is considerably accelerated, compared with uncatalysed oxidation. 2. The proportion of alcohols formed during catalysed oxidation does not differ in practice from those in uncatalysed oxidation.
