Explaining crashes at intersections with red light cameras: A note
AbstractThis note examines if offsetting driver behavior affects rear end crashes at intersections with red light cameras. It models offsetting driver behavior and estimates simultaneous probit equations to analyze this behavior. It finds that in the city considered the effect of red light cameras on the probability of a rear end crash occurring is very strong and positive, thus suggesting that offsetting behavior is present.
