Modification of floor response spectrum based on stochastic sensitivity analysis
Abstract A rational quantitative procedure based on the sensitivity study for design and performance issues for secondary structural systems, subjected to seismic excitations, is proposed, which determines the amount of variation of the floor response spectrum due to structural parameter variations. The interaction between the primary structure and secondary systems and the effect of nonclassical damping are also accounted for in an approximate manner. The effect of nonlinear primary structural behaviour is also considered using the method of equivalent linearization. Numerical examples are presented.
