Wind load on grandstands around a full perimeter of a stadium
Abstract This paper describes the wind load on the proposed grandstands around the full perimeter of a stadium in the centre of Copenhagen, Denmark. A simple approach is presented, which takes into account the directionality of the wind. Structural modifications reducing the wind load on isolated grandstand roofs were not found to be effective for the grandstands under consideration. The influence of both vented eave at the leading edge and the sub-roof blockage ratio were determined. A reliability analysis showed that the load factor (partial coefficient) should be 1.5–1.7 for the wind load on the grandstand roofs.
