Habermas revisited: Resurrecting the contested roots of communicative planning theory
Highlights Communicative planning theory has attracted a considerable amount of criticism in recent decades. The criticism has been often levelled against its original source of inspiration, Jürgen Habermas's theory of communicative action. Habermas, however, provides replies to much of this criticism especially in his works published after The Theory of Communicative Action. A revisit to Habermas's works sheds new light on the heated debates between the proponents and critics of communicative planning theory, and resurrects many central ideals of communicative planning theory.
