Investigations on the structure of fully hydrated portland cement and tricalcium silicate pastes. I. Bound water, chemical shrinkage and density of hydrates
AbstractOn a series of fully hydrated OPC pastes hydrated at two temperatures (20 and 90 °C) and on tricalcium silicate pastes hydrated at 20 ° the bound water, chemical shrinkage and density of hydrates were determined. Significant differences were found between the compared groups of materials with respect to these parameters. Effects brought about by variations of the initial water-solid ratio were less significant. The absolute values of bound water content and density varied depending on how the bound water was defined and determined.
