The specification discloses an adjustable roller construction (10) including a housing (11) for mounting in an edge region of a door or other similar movable panel, the housing (11) having an internal space (17) for accommodating a roller assembly (18) having at least one roller (20), a roller carrier (19) and an inclined engagement surface (21), the construction (10) further includes a wedge member (22) having a contact surface (23) engageable with said inclined engagement surface (21) of the roller assembly (18), the wedge member (22) including an adjusting element (24) having a threaded shank (26) threadingly cooperating with said wedge member (22) and an enlarged head (27) that is accessible in use externally of the housing (11) such that rotation of the adjusting element (24) causes said wedge member (22) to move in a linear direction thereby causing the roller assembly (18) to adjust in position relative to the housing (11), the housing including a wall region with an opening (32) passing therethrough, said opening (32) having a first region (33) of a size sufficient to allow said enlarged head (27) of the adjusting element (24) to pass therethrough and a second region (36) spaced from said first region (33) with a dimension to allow only said threaded shank (26) to pass therethrough, said second region (36) defining an operating position of said wedge member (22) and said adjusting element (24), the sub assembly of said adjusting element (24) and said wedge member 22) connected thereto being movable from said first region (33) to said second region (36) with the threaded shank (26) passing along said opening (32), whereby the sub assembly (22, 24) can be formed externally of said housing (11) and thereafter readily positioned in the operating position. 31 32 -38 3G 1 22 '23 % 43 fg 1
