A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Abstract According to the present invention there is provided a fall prevention structure for a building. The fall prevention structure includes a plurality of bridging frames (3). Each bridging frame (3) has two generally parallel vertical members (31, 32) and a plurality of connecting members (33, 34, 35, 36) extending between the vertical members (31, 32). The topmost connecting member (36) extends at an angle between the vertical members (31, 32) so as to form a brace. The bridging frames (3) are operatively spaced around at least part of the building, so that the top of the bridging frames (3) is sufficiently higher than the roof edge (21) to support a guard structure (5) extending from adjacent the roof edge to a required height above the roof edge. The bridging frames (3) are connected together and braced so as to form a self supporting structure.
