The invention relates to a transport apparatus for transporting heavy objects, which transport apparatus (10) includes a chassis (12), which includes at least two side parts (16) and a platform part (20) and rear part (14') between them, a load space (21) arranged in the middle of the said chassis (12), and at least one wheel (22) mounted on each side of the load space (21) of the chassis (12), with the aid of an axle. The chassis (12) includes in addition a front part (14) and second side parts (18), of which the second side parts (18), the front part (14), and the rear part (14') together form a frame (27) enclosed on the horizontal plane, inside of which frame (27) is located at least one wheel on each side of the load space (21), its axle (26) being supported on at least the second side part (18).
