Abstract A safety lighting apparatus which includes a body having a light emitting end, a mounting end and a wall extending between the light emitting end and the mounting end to form an enclosure. The apparatus further includes a rechargeable photovoltaic lighting element positioned within the enclosure to generate and emit light through the light emitting end of the body. The light emitting end is adapted to both receive sunlight to charge the photovoltaic lighting element and emit light generated by the photovoltaic lighting element. The mounting end further includes a recess to receive a post thereby securing the lighting apparatus to the post.
