A plug connector for piles has a body with at least a lower body portion received in, and secured to, an upper end of the shaft of the pile. A screw 5 threaded bore in, or through, the body receives an anchor bolt to secure a load to the pile, being capable of resisting lateral or uplifting forces. At least one flange (or recess) is provided on an upper body portion for engagement with a complementary formation in a driving head used to drive the pile into the ground.
