A walkway comprising a first end, a second end, a lower portion, an upper portion and ballast means that provide additional weight to the walkway. The lower portion comprises a base frame comprising a plurality of beams, where each beam is connected to one or more other beams, and an upper surface disposed between the first end and second end of the walkway that supports at least one person. The upper portion comprises a hand rail and one or more supporting frame members, where each frame member is attached to the hand rail and the base frame thereby joining the hand rail to the base frame. One or more parts comprising the walkway are modular, whereby the walkway is assembled by connecting the parts together using fastening means.
