STRENGTHENED CONNECTOR
Abstract A connector in the form of a perforated top hat section for securely attaching a building panel to a support member is provided with a guide to assist in accurately locating the 5 fasteners used to attach the connector to the support member with respect to the support member and to guide movement of the fastener as the fastener is rotatingly driven through the connector into the support member to maintain the correct orientation of the fastener to securely attach the connector to the support member. The guide can have a multitude of different forms such as holes, perforations, slots, 10 notches, grooves, lines of weakness and be continuous or in spaced apart relationship to each other. The edges of the top hat section are strengthened to increase the rigidity of the connector. One form of the strengthener is a flange having a double thickness edge. The advantage of the guide is to reduce installation time and effort as well as allowing the top hat section to be securely attached to the support by the 15 fastener having clearance between the strengtheners of the connector and the tapering side wall. 6352233 1 (GHMallers) P91 424.AU.4 WENDYS 16a 14' 20a 1Gb 4/ N24 16b Ai - 2 0a 26 / ~24, / 20b 16a 18a 24 18b 1 14 Ar10 /0' 1 16a 18a 16a ,18a 16b 28 28 20b 9> -~20a 18b 12
