System and Method for Deploying and Retrieving a Wave Energy Converter
- 1 Abstract 5 A system for deploying a wave energy converter 5 comprising a submersible structure 1 having a buoyancy chamber 3 sufficiently large that when filled with gas it enables the submersible structure 1 to float. In use, a wave energy converter 5 can be transported to a site on the submersible structure 1 and launched by releasing the gas from the buoyancy chamber 3. The system 10 also includes a tethering means in the form of three tethers 6 operatively coupled to the submersible structure 1 for tethering the wave energy converter 5 to the submersible structure 1. The system also includes a docking station 10 provided in connection with the submersible structure 1 for mechanically coupling the wave energy converter 5 to the submersible 15 structure 1 during transportation.
