Collapsible Platform Ladder
A collapsible platform ladder (10) comprises a front leg section (11), a back leg section (13), a platform section (15) which provides a work platform (17), and an upper section (19). The upper section (19) constitutes part of a passive safety system in the form of a guardrail system (21) for a worker on the work platform (17). These various parts are linked together. In particular, the front and back leg sections (11, 13) are pivotally movable relative to each other between an erected condition in which they support the platform section (15) between them to provide the work platform (17) in a generally horizontal disposition, and a collapsed condition in which they are folded together into side-by-side relation, with the platform section (15) between, and generally parallel to, the folded leg sections (11, 13). This provides a compact arrangement when the leg sections 11, 13 are in the collapsed condition as the platform section 15 is folded into position between the two leg sections within the confines thereof. As the ladder (10) moves from the assembled to the collapsed condition, the upper section (19) swings about the back leg section (13), with the result that the front and back leg sections (11, 13) are longitudinally offset with respect to each other when in the collapsed condition, with the upper section (19) folded between the two leg sections. Various parts are configured to provide mechanism (91) which facilitates controlled and guided movement of the leg sections (11, 13) between the erected and collapsed conditions. t224' 4(4 4K4) /u4>-I
