The present application describes a railway sleeper (1) for attaching at least one pair of rails (2, 2') in a railway network, the railway sleeper (1) having a contact surface (3) in which each rail in the pair of rails (2, 2') is attached and spaced out in relation to the other, the railway sleeper (1) being designed to include a hollow sector (4) delimited by the combination of the contact surface (3) with the anchoring walls (5, 5'), thereby creating a free portion (17) adjacent to the anchoring walls (5, 5') and opposite the contact surface (3). The application also describes a configuration in which the hollow sector (4) of the railway sleeper is delimited by a support surface and a railway-sleeper manufacturing method.
