WASP - Water Activated Safety Post
Abstract The invention is directed to a unit called, WASP - "Water Activated Safety Post". It stands one (1) metre tall, is constructed from PVC, and weighs less than one (1) kilogram. The unit comprises a beacon that flashes at a rate of 75 flashes per minute, is visible from 500 metres, and will last for 3 days after having a six hour (solar) charge. The unit is designed to automatically switch on when it comes into contact with water at the base. The unit turns off when the water recedes. The unit is maintenance free, and will be beneficial in hard to see places. ~'> \\ '
