IMPROVED RETRACTABLE TIERED SEATING ARRANGEMENT
Tiered retractable seating arrangements having fold down seats arranged in a plurality of horizontal rows at different heights above a supporting floor, wherein each horizontal row of seats is mounted on a respective horizontal platform being moveable between extended and retracted positions, with the seats being folded down to a flat stored condition when the platforms are retracted, and the seat in a use condition when the platforms are in an extended position. Such seating arrangements require a support framework and this specification discloses a portion of that framework comprising an elongate column and a rollable rail moveable relative to the supporting floor configured to fit with a first end of the elongate column, whereby in use the column has a vertical orientation and thereby forms with the rollable rail a portion of a support framework of a retractable tiered seating arrangement. Also disclosed is an insert sized to fit with the second end of the column, this being the top end of the column in use, and a non-inserted end for projecting beyond the top end of the column in use; and the insert also having a bearing associated with the non inserted end of the body such that at least a portion of the bearing lies beyond the non-inserted end of the body and wherein in use, when the insert in inserted into the column, the bearing is in movable contact with the horizontal platform frame, thereby assisting movement of the tiered retractable seating arrangement between extended and retracted positions. 24 - 2 4 -20 24 Figure 2 20 -/ -16' Figure 3
