A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
A scaffold bay 10 employs four uprights 11 with the second pair of uprights being located behind the two shown in Figure 1. The uprights 11 are arranged to have a driven carriage 12 with a winch and drive assembly 13 so that the carriage and winch and drive assembly 12 and 13 may be driven up or down along the uprights 11. The carriage and drive assemblies 12 and 13 are also employed on the uprights 11 located behind the uprights shown in Figure 1. Thus for the bay illustrated four upright and drive assemblies 14 are employed. The components including winch, gearing, chain and electrical connections for the drives are not shown for clarity but it will be appreciated that these a configured in the usual way for raising and lowering a carriage on an upright. The chain would ordinarily be connected to the top of the upright. Modular controllers are hung on the bays and are daisy chained to control alternate bays. Modes include a concer mode where all platforms are realigned and then driven together or an independent mode where platforms may be driven separately. e1
