A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
A lifting lug 5 has a first wall 10, a second wall 12 and a third wall 14. The first wall 10 and the third wall 14 extend at an oblique angle to the second wall 12 and effectively form wings on the lifting lug 5. An upwardly extending wall or wall section 16 has an opening 18 that can receive a crate hook or other lifting apparatus. The upwardly extending wall section 16 may extend upwardly and outwardly from the second wall. The lifting lug may be welded to the outer surface of a formwork section 40 and the lifting lug may be located between a top flange 1 and a second flange 3 located below the top flange 1. The lifting lug 5 may be welded to the formwork section 40 along the upper edges, side edges and lower edges of the first wall 10 and third wall 14 and also along the lower edge of the second wall 12. This results in a long line of weld metal attaching the lifting lug to the formwork, thereby providing a strong attachment. Further, the lifting lug itself can provide a box section and be reinforcement between the top flange and the second flange. The lifting eye 18 can extend above the top flange 1 so that a crane hook can be easily attached to the lifting eye. ----------
