Stowable awning
Abstract There is described an awning assembly for attachment to a vehicle, the awning assembly comprising an elongate base attachable to the vehicle, the base having a first end and a second end, a portion of the second end of the base being magnetic or responsive to magnetic force, a plurality of arms operatively mounted to the first and/or second end of the base, a portion of one or more of the plurality of arms being magnetic or responsive to magnetic force, the operative mounting including one or more pivots to facilitate swinging one or more of the plurality of arms relative to the first and/or second end of the base between a stowed position in which the arms are substantially adjacent the base and at least the portion is held thereagainst by magnetic force between the base and the arms, and a deployed position in which the plurality of arms are rotated about the first and/or second end such that they are splayed away from the base, a flexible sheet associated with the plurality of arms, so that in the deployed position, the flexible sheet provides cover to an area beneath the plurality of arms.
