A skylight assembly for use with roof or ceiling panels, the skylight assembly comprising: at least one elongate skylight panel having a central light transmitting portion extending longitudinally and between a first lateral end portion and a second lateral end portion of the panel for transmitting natural light; each of said first and second lateral end portions of the panel comprising respective connection arrangements of channel-like formation for direct connection with adjacently located roof panels or ceiling panels; and a lighting arrangement positioned along a length of the elongate skylight panel at or adjacent said first or second lateral end portions for providing an alternative light source when natural light for transmission through the central light transmitting portion of the skylight panel is not available.
