A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
The present invention provides a corner piece for application to a building element or duct to provide a corner support for embedment mesh spaced from said building element or duct, said corner piece including a portion extending away from said corner support so as to connect said corner piece to a surface of a building element or duct to position said corner support away from two intersecting planes of adjacent side walls of said building element or duct. The invention also provides a pin mechanism for attaching a mesh to be embedded into a material to be sprayed on a building element or duct or other shaped article, said pin mechanism having a pin portion and a base portion, said pin portion including pin formation which extends away from said base portion, and is of a length to receive and hold a base washer away from the base portion, and to receive a lock washer which will sandwich a portion of embedment mesh between said base washer and said lock washer. The invention also provides an embedment mesh support piece, said support piece being of a generally z-shaped section, having a lower section to allow said support piece to be secured to a building element, and an upper section allowing an embedment mesh to be attached to said support piece to support said embedment mesh away from a building element to be coated with a layer of material. The present invention also provides a method of applying a fire retardant layer to a building element.
