ROLLER WHEEL ASSEMBLY HAVING LARGE DIAMETER ROLLER WHEELS
A roller wheel assembly (1) for a sliding panel is provided. According to embodiments, the roller wheel assembly includes an outer support housing (3) having opposing side walls (5), an upper wall (7) and an open lower face (11). A support beam (15) is located between the opposing side walls (5) of the outer support housing (3), and the support beam (15) has an intermediate section (17) and opposing side sections (19) extending from the intermediate section (17). The support beam (15) is pivotally supported about a central pivot (21) located at the intermediate section (17). At least two roller carriages (23) are provided, each roller carriage (23) rotationally supports at least an inner roller wheel (25) located close to the central pivot (21) and an outer roller wheel (27). Each roller carriage (23) is adapted, in use, to project below the open lower face (11) of the outer support housing (3). Each roller carriage (23) is respectively supported on an outer pivot (24) located at or adjacent a peripheral end (33) of each side section (19). A height adjustment mechanism (36) is provided for adjusting the projection of the roller carriages (23) from the open lower face (11) between retracted and extended positions. As provided herein, each side section (19) includes a generally arcuate shaped channel (20) for providing clearance for at least the inner roller wheel (25) of the roller carriage (23) supported thereon.
