Process for immobilising hazardous waste
The disclosure provides a process for immobilising hazardous waste, in particular hazardous liquid waste comprising or contaminated with hazardous organic compounds and/or POPs, inorganic compounds, or low level radioactive waste. Said process comprises dispersing said hazardous waste in a non-swelling clay to form a dry mixture; mixing a cementitious binder and, optionally, water with the dry mixture to produce a plastic mixture; and allowing the plastic mixture to set to an immobilised waste material.
