Abstract A wire rope safety barrier tension monitoring system is configured for detecting and classifying changes in tension according to event category in substantial real-time. For at least one wire rope safety barrier comprising a plurality of ropes, the system comprises a plurality of load cells for each or at least a subset of the plurality of ropes.
