A MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEM FOR DRAGLINES EMPLOYED IN OPENCAST COAL MINES
The system comprise a voltage to frequency converter IC to convert drag and hoist current into frequency which is measured by a microcontroller to determine dragline bucket empty/full status; a proximity sensor mechanically coupled to calculate swing angle values to count a bucket and to trace drag and hoist rope travel; a plurality of maintenance keys for determining cause of the maintenance; a EEPROM connected to the microcontroller to store the data regarding bucket count, time needed to complete a bucket count cycle, drag current, hoist current, swing angle, drag & hoist rope travel, and maintenance time; a real time clock for keeping purposes such as shift time, for maintaining records of start and end of maintenance task; and a printer coupled with the microcontroller for printing a record of activities that is carried out in a shift, wherein a detailed report is printed out whenever a shift is over.
