Abstract A self-supporting split skillion portal frame comprising first and second pitched skillion rafters and a first column, each of the first and second pitched skillion rafters having respective upper and lower ends, the upper end of the second pitched skillion rafter being connected to the first pitched skillion rafter at a first connection point between the upper and lower ends of the first rafter such that an upper portion of the first rafter lies over an upper portion of the second rafter and wherein the first column is connected substantially vertically between a second connection point at an upper end thereof which is between the upper end and first connection point of the first rafter and at a third connection point at a lower end thereof which is between the upper and lower ends of the second rafter.
