Abstract A support structure for panelling for cladding external and internal walls of a building comprises a frame which includes a plurality of spaced generally horizontal elongate cross members 5 each secured to and supported by a plurality of spaced generally vertical elongate members. A plurality of spacing members for connecting the frame to a wall of a building is provided, each spacing member including a base bordered on two opposite sides by side members which extend generally normal to said base and 10 which include means by which the side members can be connected one to said wall and the other to said frame. The distance between the base and the side walls of each member equates to a required spacing for ventilation purposes between the cladding and the wall. An intumescent material IS applied to a plurality 15 of said spacing members
