Abstract An anti-climbing device 20for use with a fence 10 of the type having at least two upstanding, spaced apart, generally vertically orientated fence posts 11 that are connected by a generally horizontally orientated top rail 12 and a generally horizontally orientated bottom rail 13, and suitable cladding 16 that at least partially closes the gap between said top and bottom rails. The anti-climbing device includes an elongate body 21, first mounting means 28 for mounting the body to the cladding, and second mounting means 34 for mounting the body to the front face of one of the railings, said second mounting means being spaced from said first mounting means in both the horizontal and vertical directions. The anti-climbing device also includes a barrier 22 having an external face that extends between the first mounting means and the second mounting means, said external face, in use, being inclined relative to the cladding and the rail, and support means 40 that is connected to a rear portion of said barrier for providing support for said barrier, said support means having an abutment portion that in use shall abut against a top surface of the rail and/or a face of the cladding. i 2
