Construction or fabrication of an assembly comprising a joist or rafter
Abstract A method of connecting a joist or rafter to a side of a timber supporting member such that the joist or rafter extends transverse to the supporting member, the joist or rafter having top and bottom flange or chord members and a web interconnecting the top and bottom members, comprises securing an end of the rafter orjoist to the side via a mounting member. The securing of the end to the side comprises driving into the supporting member at least one fastener extending along a respective passage preformed in the mounting member. The fastener is guided by the passage to be located correctly with respect to the mounting member in a connection thus formed between the mounting member and the side.
