A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Abstract This invention relates primarily to a floating wave attenuator, or other structure having a combination of components fastened together as a floating platform to provide a substantially heavy structural barrier to attenuate wave action by absorbing and reflecting wave energy from one side of the structure providing smooth, or smoother water on the other side. Further the combination of all, or some of the components can be configured to support a substantial mass of any kind, such as a building. The combination of components comprising: (a) a skeleton frame; (b) buoyancy floatation units; (c) vertical structural beams extending into the water to a depth; (d) concrete side panels, or similar fitted within said vertical beams, extending the length of said module on either side; '(e) hinge, or flexible coupling connection to a plural of modules for the length of the area of wave attenuation. Further, the structure is secured into position using pile guides and fixed piles driven into the seabed, or alternatively held into position by chains, or ropes tethered to concrete blocks on the seabed floor. Further the floating structure allows for watercraft to be tethered to the platform. Further the floating structure is a platform providing access to the water or watercraft. __ - ~ ~ -- Module Width- ----------- - 28 LeftSide Prism----- ------Right Side Prism- 7 1124-\ 12 4 -4 22-" SECTION VIEW -----Left side Prism---- -----Right Side Prism 3, 4-\1 4A 12 ca6 (1FIGURE 4.
