SLIDING DOOR BRAKING SYSTEM
Provided is a system for slowing the movement of a sliding panel along a track. The braking mechanism comprises: a brake engagement member mountable on a sliding panel movable along a track, the brake engagement member configured to move from a first position to a second position, a trigger mountable on or about a sliding panel track and configured to cause the brake engagement member to move from the first position to the second position upon contact therewith, a brake fixable on or about the track and configured to slow the movement of the brake engagement member along the track when contacted therewith. The brake engagement member slides along the track and toward the trigger and by contacting the trigger is moved from the first position in which it is not potentially contactable with the brake to the second position in which it is contactable with the brake, and upon attaining to the second position the brake engagement member is caused or allowed to move back toward the first position. The brake engagement member moves at a relatively high velocity toward the brake the member has insufficient time to move from second position to the first position and therefore contacts the brake, and where the brake engagement member is moving at a relatively low velocity toward the brake the engagement member has sufficient time to move from the second position to first position and therefore fails to contact the brake. 70 25 3232 85 80 2 6 o 175 RELATIVELY SLOW TRAVEL 115 115 FIG. 2A FIG. 2B FIG. 2C 15 RELATIVELY FAST TRAVEL FIG. 3A FIG. 3B FIG 3C
