LATCH ASSEMBLY INCLUDING MAGNETIC ACTUATION
A latch assembly for selectively retaining a movable closure against a fixed element. The latch assembly comprises; a housing mountable on an edge of a closure. The housing defines an internal space in which there is disposed a guide, the guide arranged to retain a latch pin carriage which is slidable there along and co- operates with a magnetised latch pin. A magnet is disposed in or on the fixed element and opposes the magnetised latch pin. The latch pin when aligned with the magnet is biased towards a latched position in which the latch pin extends into a striker plate thereby preventing relative movement between the closure and the fixed element. The latch assembly further comprises an actuator which co -operates with a cam on a latch carriage and selectively urges the carriage to an unlatched position. t , Qo]
