CA 3000158 2019-07-18 ABSTRACT Methods for operating a door lock apparatus are disclosed. A method includes drawing current from a power source to actuate an electronic actuator to transition a door locking mechanism between locked and unlocked positions. The method includes limiting the current drawn by the electronic actuator to an allowable peak current. The method includes identifying an event failure condition based upon at least one of the current drawn by the electronic actuator and an actual position of the door locking mechanism. The method includes increasing the allowable peak current in response to a predetermined number of event failure conditions.
